Who's That Girl in the Old Navy Commercials?

Televisions everywhere are being invaded by Old Navy's latest annoyingly catchy commercial featuring a clothes-changing dancer performing an original tune called "Layer Player." Haven't seen the ad yet? Watch it now:

But who is the mysterious chick prancing around the screen? She's played by dancer and actress Tyne Stecklein.

Don't worry, you probably haven't heard of Stecklein before unless you're a follower of the dance community, but it's likely you've seen her in action without knowing it.

Before starring in Old Navy's latest ad, Stecklein has appeared in films like Burlesque and the update of Fame, plus was also one of the ten (out of 5,000) dancers chosen to perform alongside Michael Jackson on his This Is It tour. (Watch the dancers perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.) In early 2011, Tyne played the role of Victoria in the Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman romantic comedy No Strings Attached.

So, there you have it... another "I wonder who that is?" problem solved! If you're a fan of the commercial (or shopping at Old Navy) you can use the Shazam app on your smart phone to unlock some "secret goodies" from the retailer. Layer player!

James Van Der Beek Models DILF Khakis

james van der beek dilf

Looks like the man formerly known as Dawson is quickly becoming the new go-to guy for viral Web content. Following his Van Der Week on Funny or Die, and the recent popularity of James Van Der Memes the 33-year-old actor and father is now promoting DILF Khakis. That's right, sensible trousers for "Dads I'd Like to..." Well, you know the rest.

Travelers Get Amazing Welcome Home Flashmob Style

Last year busy commuters were shaken from their usual routines by some very fun dancing in Liverpool Station in London. The flashmob was put together by T-Mobile as a part of their "Life's For Sharing"campaign.

Now the T-Mobile folks have orchestrated a beautiful (and surprising!) welcome home to travelers landing at London's Heathrow airport. Some are touching, some are funny, but they are all amazing to watch. Check it out!

Love the look on some people's faces! Not a bad way to step off a long flight, no?

We'd Be in a World of FAIL Without Infomercials

as seen on tv funny video

The people that you see on all of those infomercials and "as seen on TV" spots are always a hot mess, but don't their colossal screw ups to make you feel just a little bit better about yourself? You might be having a rough day or week, but at least you can open a carton of milk without exploding it all over yourself, right?

Check out this tribute to some of the best (and worst) commercial FAILS in this great montage...

'SNL' Creates the Shake Weight DVD

In all honesty, I can't believe it took someone this long to make a good parody of the Shake Weight, but the one from this past Saturday Night Live was truly magical. In fact, it was probably the only stand out sketch of the show hosted by Ryan Phillipe. Check it out below...

If This Doesn't Make You Love Dogs I Don't Know What Will

I'm moderately obsessed with this Pedigree dog food commercial. If you're not a dog lover by the end of it I think there's something wrong with you.

I'm a huge fan of animal videos and anything in slow motion to this really hits the sweet spot for me. And makes me hungry.

Start Your Day Off Right With a Really Funny PSA

When I was in college we didn't have "real" commercials on our weekly newscast, we just PSA given to us by the government. Most of them featured Smokey the Bear or had really sad images pets that were about to be euthanized, but this one I just saw makes me laugh really, really hard.

Johannes Brahms! I also love that someone titled this "the greatest cereal commercial of all time."

Have a great day...

The Best Commercials of 2008

With TiVo and DVR and online viewing you'd think traditional commercials would be a dying breed, but the Association of Independent Commercial Producers beg to differ. The Association has selected the best commercials of 2008 and revealed them on the TODAY show on Wednesday. Check 'em out...

Sad that there was no mention of "Toby's New Trick."

"What? That It's Made From Corn..."

This is totally ripped off from my blog buddy Rob at Some Kinda Blog but it was too funny (read: offensive) not to share. Have you seen those commercials by The Corn Refiners Association that are standing up for high-fructose corn syrup? If not here's an example:

Well comediennes Jackie Beat, Nadya Ginsburg and Selene Luna have spoofed the spots in their own hilarious (read again: offensive) video. Check it out:

Have a wonderful weekend!

Did you spot Pat and Carolyn in last night's "My Life As a CoverGirl" commercial during America's Next Top Model? We were invited to the filming by Cycle 11 winner McKey Sullivan and got to sit front row. Very fun evening. Check it out here if you missed it...

T-Mobile "Life's For Sharing" Commercial

This is fantastic. Please take a moment of your Friday to enjoy this clip from T-Mobile. What would you do if you were in a crowded train station and everyone started doing an intricate dance routine?

T-Mobile hopes you'll take photos and video and share with your friends.

Totally made me smile. You can watch a short clip of the dancers preparing for the stunt here.

[thanks, Endre]

No More Butt Dialing

Just saw this "butt dialing" commercial for the new T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl Flip. It's pretty funny and true. Check it out:

Dad- You might want to get this phone so you'll stop calling me in the middle of meetings. Just a thought.

As Seen On TV: Awesome Commercials

I already posted about my favorite commercial from the Super Bowl last night, but I have to share 2 ads that obviously didn't cost $3 million to air. After watching a marathon of ANTM before the game I saw two of the most awesomely awful commercials I've seen in a while. Please take a look...

The first is for Good Bye Smell, which gets gross smells like fish and onions off of your hands. Sounds like a great product, but the commercial is downright rude! WHAT does the guy say at :25? Get the WHAT out?

The second commercial is for Bump It hair accessories, which will turn any woman's boring and lifeless hair into that of a southern hair dresser or salon receptionist. The red carpet demonstration is absolutely beautiful.

Move over Snuggie and ShamWOW- You've got some competition!

Sassy Kids in Trigon Commercials

Ok, so these commercials are apparently old news, but I just recently came across them (thanks, Carolyn) and I have to share them. You know I'm a sucker for little kids and for funny ads, so these ads from Trigon BlueCross BlueShield were right up my alley.

He kicked him where?!

Maybe they should get out of health care and into comedy?

Schweppes Slow Motion Balloon Pops Ad

If you liked the super slow motion punch fest video then you're in for another treat! This viral video has been floating around for Schweppes. It's water balloons being burst in slow motion. I mean, is there anything that's not cooler in slowmo?

Does it make you thirsty? I need a drink, but I guess that was the point.

OfficeMax Penny Pranks

The school year is about to come back into full swing for those suckers unfortunate enough to still be in school, and the onslaught of deals and sales is bigger than ever. OfficeMax is running a new viral campaign via TV and YouTube with their "penny pranks." Basically this jerk goes around and tries to buy all kinds of things using only pennies. The videos go along with OfficeMax's idea to "go back to school for pennies", where certain products like crayons and rulers only cost 1 cent.

This guy does have a good point: Pennies are money and we should be able to spend them as we please. Even so, if he ever tried to pay for anything I was selling in pennies I'd probably punch him in the face. Check out some of the clips, or watch them all here.

The Verizon Dead Zones

Clearly, I love television and I watch a lot of it... and because I can't watch everything on DVR, I end up watching a lot of commercials, too. Every so often a set of commercials really stand out as being unique or funny, and the new Verizon ads are great!

While they are still hanging on to that "can you hear me now?" guy (ps- thanks for supplying my dad with endless annoying "can you hear me now?" moments every time we talk on the phone, Verizon) but have parodied some classic horror movies to show that their customers shouldn't have to fear those terrifying "dead zones."

Amityville Horror parody

The Shining parody

I have to say... these commercials actually do scare me a little. I don't like when they come on the air after 9pm.
