What's Your Blog's Personality?

Found this site many moons ago after reading in on Matthew's blog.... Typealyzer analyzes the content of your (or your favorite) blog and then gives a diagnosis on its personality. Exciting, right? C'mon... humor me.

Clearly I put ABlogAboutThings into the analyzer, and here's the outcome!

Um, ya I think that is me and/or my blog 100%. Especially the part about starting new projects but not finishing, and having trouble sitting still or in one place for a long period of time. *gets up and walks around* Here's some stuff about my brain:

Yes, I love order and habit and details, but I HATE MATH.

Put in your site and let me know what your "type" was!

This Rocks My World (of Goo)

This past weekend Carolyn and I spent hours and hours (literally) playing an awesome new game I got for Wii. I downloaded "World of Goo" following the recommendation from Matt over at Mattsign.com and found it to be just as engaging and fantastic as he described. Watch the trailer for the game and tell me you're not intrigued.

The basic gist of the game is that you build the blobs of goo into architecturally sound structures to reach drainpipes in some precarious locations. Once the goo reaches the pipe they are sucked up and move on to the next level.

Beyond the actual game play is the artistic element to "World of Goo." The animation is not only whimsical, but seems to allow the fictional blobs of goo to actually follow the laws of physics. The music is also a huge part of the experience—giving you the right balance of anxiety/dread and hopefulness/success. When Carolyn and I actually reached the drainpipe at some of the harder levels we screamed with excitement! (Okay, we scream a lot.)

"World of Goo" is only $15/1500 points from the WiiWare Channel and downloads right onto your console. You can play alone or with friends, which is much more enjoyable.

Crazy Russian Pixelated Game

So, this is one of the best and worst online games I've played in a while. Where's an Egg? is a bare-bones kinda game from Videlectrix (which has something to do with HomestarRunner somehow) which challenges you to—get this—FIND THE EGG! Sounds very easy, but the problem is that the game is full screen, uber-pixelated and completely in Russian. There are no instructions or directions, so let me help you out...

Basically you click on locations on this weird map and interview people to see if they know the egg's whereabouts.

If they don't know its location they will give clues towards other people who may have it, or objects that can lead you to the egg. When you think you have found the person with the egg, you shoot them. I mean, obviously that's the solution. You only get 3 bullets, so choose wisely. Play the game!

If you find the egg, you are given an award by some mustachioed KGB member and rewarded with a fireworks display and weird spacecraft show. Yes, it's weird.

What was your high score? Mine was 997 but that's only because I shot the first person I talked to and got lucky :)

I Always Knew I Hated Cats

Here's another game from GameDesign.jp that will surely drive you up the wall.

The premise of Chat Noir is simple: Change the yellow spaces to green to block the cat from walking out of the playing field. Every time you click the cat makes a move for the edge, so choose carefully. Keep clicking the circles until the cat is isolated into one space.

Misery loves company! Enjoy.

You Say Tomato, I Say This Game Makes Me Crazy

File this under another online game that will ruin your life! Domino Pressure is a simple game where you have to select the correct domino to start the chain reaction that will eventually squash the tomato. You lose a second for each undisturbed domino you leave behind- so choose carefully! Here's an example:

It seems pretty easy, but you'll quickly get frustrated trying to figure out which domino is the first in the chain. If you're unable to choose the first domino, hit the pass button and you'll get a bunch of time back on the clock (and it will show you the solution). But use carefully- you only get 3 passes. My tip is to try to pick the domino that you think will squash the tomato and then work backwards! Good luck!

Test Your Color IQ

A while ago I posted a game asking "how many colors can you name in 5 minutes." It's surprisingly hard. You'll get really frustrated if you try it. Trust me.

Here's another color quiz from XRite.com that challenges you rearrange the colors in each row below according to their hue. It's really hard, too. Try the quiz by clicking on the picture below:

Here are my results. I did a pretty good job. The lower the score you get, the better, and I got and 8. The results show you your score and how you did compared to people in your demographic.

Ok, what was your score?

[thanks, WW]

Prepare to Pull Your Hair Out

I feel like this is a good post to share on a Monday morning, because if you're not ready to do work this will probably take a few hours out of your day to complete. Okay, maybe you're smarter than me, but this quiz/game makes me CRAZY!!!! You may have even played this before, but it's worth another shot. I think I solved it over a year ago, but it still took me forever to figure out again.

Click the picture below to take the Japanese IQ Test from RobMathiowetz.com

Ok so be honest... how long did it take you to solve? It was was under 3 hours I don't believe you.

Fun Game: Magic Touch

Get your minds out of the gutter- Magic Touch from FreeOnlineGames.com is not even remotely as dirty as you'd think. It's a time-wasting game where you play as a wizard, casting spells to pop balloons above evil robot bug things before they land on your castle (ya, bear with me). You cast spells by using the mouse to draw the shapes in the balloons.

The concept sounds simple, but you may quickly find yourself in a fit of rage while trying to beat the game because it's a lot harder than it looks! Make sure you turn the sound AND music off because it's really annoying, but other than that it's a fairly enjoyable game!

Enjoy!

How many have your name?

Now, I have to say that although my name isn't that common, a simple Google search shows that it pops up on more than one occasion. Still fun though! Here's some other facts about "Patrick Sandora"

So, how many of there of you?

Adventures at IKEA

Last Saturday Carolyn and I made the trek to the urban oasis known as IKEA. You might be surprised to know that although we live in the biggest city in the world, there is not an IKEA that is particularly accessible for New Yorkers. There are locations on Long Island and New Jersey, with the newest location in far off Red Hook, Brooklyn. With some research, we found out that the Brooklyn location is the most readily accessible by public transportation (without taking a bus, where we would inevitably be decapitated). We took the subway to the free IKEA shuttle. It wasn't a bad trip at all, despite the fact that we got on the express train in the wrong direction on the way home.

The entire time we were there we were making jokes about the names of the furniture, saying we were going to buy a dingus, flergen and mohl... which may even be real products; I'm not sure. So, today I was poking around on the web for IKEA stuff and found the Swedish Furniture Name Generator from Blogadilla.com. Check out my name... very inspired.

Another cool website I found was IKEA Hacker, a site that shows cool and unique ways people have transformed or re-purposed their standard furniture. Pretty neato.

This other cool site, QUIKEA, shows how to expertly navigate the maze of mock living rooms and lackadaisical wanderers when you are there just to get a specific item with no time to dilly dally. Great tips!

Any fun IKEA stories to share?

The Caffeine Click Test

I came across a fun quiz this morning while searching for blog content. It's the Caffeine Click Test which challenges you to see how many times you can click your mouse in 30 seconds. Take the test now. Here's my results:

The Caffeine Click Test - How Caffeinated Are You?

Not too bad, considering that I actually haven't had any caffeine today. You may remember that I crunched the coffee numbers on my blog a while ago. I'm going to try to go all week without my normal iced coffee... Not sure why, but gonna give it a go. I've been drinking "rescue" Vitamin Water instead. We'll see how this goes.

Cubefield

Before you read this I'd like to say either "you're welcome" or "I'm sorry" depending on your reaction to this game I found yesterday. If you play it even once you'll surely become addicted and either thank me for sharing this amazing discovery, or curse me for adding another addiction to your life. Either way you're gonna get hooked. Check out Cubefield from FreeOnlineGames.com

This little screen grab does not do the game justice. The basic premise is that you are the little triangle and you must navigate your way through a field of cubes (hence the title) without running in to any of them. Sounds pretty easy but it quickly becomes frustrating and fun at the same time. Try not to scream things out at your desk.

Again... "You're welcome" or "I'm sorry."

Type Racer

You know I love me some time-killing internet games and quizzes to help me zone out during the day... and this could be one of my all-time faves. My friend, Pierce, showed me this game called TypeRacer which is nothing but a glorified typing test, but pits you against other typers to see who can get the most WPM (words per minute) while accurately hammering out simple sentences. They even give you cute VW Beetles to drive!

Your car comes to a stop at every typo, so make sure you don't make any mistakes... because if you do you will probably freak out and slam on the keys or scream at your computer. That might have just been me, though. Take TypeRacer for a drive and let me know how you do!

Test Your Candy Bar Knowledge

Fat kids, take heed! I found a new AOL quiz that could finally validate your love for candy bars and snacks. If you think you are a snack aficionado then put your knowledge to the test and see if you can identify these candy bars simply by viewing their insides. Any of these look familiar?
If you think you can name any of these (I got 15 out of 20... I'm a fat kid at heart) then take the Candy Bar Identification Quiz and put your money where your snacks are... or something like that...

What was your score?

Do You Dress Like A Douchebag?

I'm we've all seen people on the street and said, "Wow, that guy/girl is dressed like a douchebag." But have you ever seen someone on the street that looked like a douche and thought, "Oh no... I have that outfit"? Well, now there is a simple test you can take to find out if what you're currently wearing makes you a douchebag. It's very simple.

The website ArabianMonkey.com has a new flowchart that will help you figure out your douchebag status. Click here to take the test and then leave a comment and let me know your results.

I took the test and I am not currently dressed like a douche. Huzzah!

How Many Colors Can You Name In 5 Minutes?

There's nothing better to kill some time at work than taking weird quizzes online. You know I like to share them with you when I find them, so here's another one to distract you.

The newest quiz is "How many colors can you name in five minute?" and it's a doozy! I sat around with my roommates and friends last weekend and tried it and with 5 of us we still couldn't get that many. It's a lot harder than you'd think! Take the quiz and let me know how you do!
