Summer Friday: "Puff on This, Bitch! You Just Got Iced!"

Every Friday between Memorial Day and Labor Day I'm going to be featuring guest bloggers as a part of my "Summer Fridays" series. This week's entry comes from comedienne Kara Klenk, who analyzes America's hottest new drinking game.

Summer is barely here, and mine has already been chock-full of weddings (read: open bar), dining
al fresco (read: boozing), and trying to soak up as much sunshiny park time as possible (read: flasks). Hold off on the intervention, I’m just stating the simple fact that summer encourages more drinking than the other seasons.

For those of you who’d like to add a competitive edge to your summer nights (or days, go ahead, I’m not judging) there is a new phenomenon that has burst through the frat house doors and is infecting the mainstream like Beiber Fever. It’s call "Icing", and if you haven’t heard of it, let me ‘splain it to you. Basically, one person "ices" another when he/she finds a creative way to present another person with a Smirnoff Ice. The rules are below:

rules for icing

The game was popularized by the web site, which has sadly been shut down, but previously cataloged user-submitted evidence of great "ices" in history. It’s the fun of devising a plan to catch someone off guard with a Smirnoff Ice Raspberry Burst that makes this game kind of hilarious. Before the site went down I saw a couple photos of someone getting iced at his wedding and another of someone's toiletry drawer with a Smirnoff Ice resting inside next to an inhaler with a note that read, "Puff on this, bitch! You just got iced!"

"What Is a Blog?"

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people misuse the word "blog" when they mean "blog entry" or "post." Like when they say "I posted a new blog today!" No, you didn't. A blog is a site, you posted an entry.

Anyway... Looks like the peeve might be the least of my worries. The folks over at Switched.com did a little man on the street video asking people "What is a blog?" and the answers were all over the map. Check it out.

This was my favorite answer:
"Postings on the web where a bunch of people who are about 1/3 as smart as they really are like to comment on stuff and believe that so many people are so interested in their lives when a lot of times they're just there pointing at their postings and laughing at them."
I mean, the dude has a point! I guess the idea of what a blog really is can nowadays be a little fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure it's not something I use to lock up my important belongings.

What do you think a blog is? Leave a comment!

Explain Hard to Understand Things with Fake Science

After the puzzling results of the Lost series finale last night I thought today was perfect timing to share this new blog I recently found.

The site is called Fake Science (ha!) and features simple illustrations to some of the universe's most perplexing questions. What a better way to answer an curiously annoying child or coworker's questions than by sending them a link. Examples include:

All The People Who Died on 'Lost'

people who have died on lost

I can't believe tonight is the second to last episode of Lost ever. I am so excited and sad at the same time. At this stage in the game we all know that the show's creators aren't afraid to kill major characters, so who knows which Losties will kick the bucket tonight.

Many, many characters have met their demise both on and off of Lost's mythical Island, and Jezebel.com has compiled a clip of each and every person who kicked it over the series' six seasons.

Top Models Test Their Knowledge on 'The Tonight Show'

Simone, Jessica and Angelea from America's Next Top Model Cycle 14 put their general knowledge to the test on The Tonight Show last night and the results were... Well, you can probably guess how the results went.

Surprisingly, Angelea seemed to be the sharpest tack in the bunch! Check out the clips after the jump...

We'd Be in a World of FAIL Without Infomercials

as seen on tv funny video

The people that you see on all of those infomercials and "as seen on TV" spots are always a hot mess, but don't their colossal screw ups to make you feel just a little bit better about yourself? You might be having a rough day or week, but at least you can open a carton of milk without exploding it all over yourself, right?

Check out this tribute to some of the best (and worst) commercial FAILS in this great montage...

'SNL' Alarm Clocks and More

Tina Tina Sharnu was back on last night's SNL with host Gabourey Sidibe. Apparently she has moved on from Car Horns and More to Alarm Clocks and More! Dig it.

Best. 'Lost'. Recap. Ever.

As the series finale of Lost on ABC grows closer and closer my obsession only becomes greater and greater. I've posted a few things about the series -- like these great fan videos and these funny Lost cartoons -- but this homemade series recap video blew my mind.

Get completely caught up on the first five seasons of Lost with this reenactment by a big Italian family.

The last few seconds with the grandma made my life. PLEASE make more of these, Internets.

[thanks, Ysolt]

'SNL' Creates the Shake Weight DVD

In all honesty, I can't believe it took someone this long to make a good parody of the Shake Weight, but the one from this past Saturday Night Live was truly magical. In fact, it was probably the only stand out sketch of the show hosted by Ryan Phillipe. Check it out below...

VLOG: Pat & Carolyn Explain the Plot of 'The Little Mermaid'

After generating such a fun reaction from Pat & Carolyn Explain How to Wear a Circle Scarf we decided to take another stab at a different kind of recap vlog. This time we're giving you the down and dirty version of one of our favorite Disney films. Check it out!

Just like you remembered it, right? Make sure you watch long enough to see the singalong!

Video Games Take Over the World!

This video by director Patrick Jean is making its way around the web this week and you must watch! In an amazing combination of animation and live-action we get to see what it would be like if all those pixelated video games we grew up with decided to seek revenge on the world. Check it out!

Sonic and Mario's Award Reunion

There has always been a long-time rivalry between those kids who grew up with Nintendo (cool) and those who grew up with Sega (weird) and unfortunately for Sonic it was Nintendo that came out on top.

Check out this clip of Mario and Sonic reuniting after a time of not seeing each other. ....aaaawkward.

Kids who had Sega were totally weird, right? THREE buttons?! WTF.

Ellen Visits the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The Ellen Degeneres Show was in Orlando last week and Ellen took two special Harry Potter fans on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Universal Studios' new theme park The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Obviously it was hilarious. Check it out...

Vegetarians, Beware! The Web Just Got Bacon-ier!

A recent study shows that eating bacon can improve your memory, which may explain why I have the most amazing memory IN THE WORLD! Or clogged arteries... whatever.

Perhaps this same memory-boosting magic will also work on the world wide web with this site: Baconlicio.us. All you have to do is put your favorite site's URL after the Baconlicio.us link and your site will forever be bacon-ified!

This site looks so beautiful with a big slab of bacon on top of it. And I couldn't help but be totally rude and bacon-ify a vegetarian website.

I'm the worst.

In other bacon-related news I also recently acquired these delicious looking (not tasting) bacon magnets from the Design Dude.

I love bacon.
