Lady Gaga on 'Dancing with the Stars' Finale

Did you guys watch the finale of Dancing with the Stars last night (cutey patootie Shawn Johnson won)? I don't normally watch the show, but I knew Lady GaGa was going to perform, and since I am now moderately obsessed with her I decided to tune in. GaGa performed fantastic versions of "Just Dance" and her newest single "LoveGame."

Both songs were ramped up with live instrumentals and some slight reworking so listen with headphones or good speakers if you can. Check out the performances before they get removed...

"Just Dance" on DWTS

"LoveGame" on DWTS

It's slowly dawning on me (and the rest of the country I think) that Lady GaGa is about to become the next big thing. Honestly, there aren't really any other artists out there besides Beyonce that can sing, dance and hustle the way she does. Bravo, GaGa.

These Are the Songs of Summer 2009

Memorial Day is just around the corner, meaning the unofficial star to summer is almost here. In their newest edition the folks over at Entertainment Weekly have put together their top 10 picks for the songs we'll all be jamming to this summer. Some of them I've heard already, some are new listens, but they're all pretty good contenders for my iPod's "top 25 most played." Please allow me to share my fave 5 with you.

Katy Perry "Waking Up In Vegas"

Kid Cudi "Day 'N' Nite"

Lady GaGa "Lovegame"

The Gossip "Heavy Cross"

Phoenix "1901"

Other's include:
Black Eyed Peas "I Got A Feeling"
Lil Wayne f. Kevin Rudolf "In Your Face"
3OH!3 "Don't Trust Me"
Kristina DeBarge "Goodbye"
Shinedown "Second Chance"

I'm all about Lady GaGa this summer. Really digging the Kid Cudi song and Phoenix's is pretty cool too. I don't really care for the Kristina DeBarge song or 3Oh!3 but I can see how they're going to be catchy. I'm a little surprised there's not Kelly Clarkson "I Do Not Hook Up" in there, but I do agree with most of their choices.

Are there any songs out there that you think are missing from the list? PLEASE share them with me because I'm all about finding new jams.

Exclusive: Pre-Fame Pictures of Lady Gaga

Before taking over the world as pop superstar Lady Gaga, Stefani Germanotta was just a girl growing up in New York City who attended NYU. Few pictures are out there of a pre-fame Gaga, but luckily for me and anonymous tipster dropped some in my inbox!

Check out these pictures of a brunette Stefani before her platinum blond Gaga days. Some of them are over 10 years old back when Gaga was just 12 or 13.

Lady Gaga "The Fame"

The mysterious artist known as Lady Gaga has been getting a lot of internet buzz lately because of her sleek style and hit single "Just Dance." She's also been getting a lot of attention because of Christina Aguilera's supposed "stealing" of her look. I am very, very hesitant to jump on the Gaga train, and I still haven't, but my brother got me and iTunes gift card for my birthday so I decided to buy the album.

Just some background, Lady Gaga is a native New Yorker who came up through NYC's music scene as a singer/songwriter who performed in underground clubs. She teamed up with Akon (seriously) to produce some tracks for him while doing her own thing on the side. Eventually people started noticing what a great singer she was and her solo career was born.

Basically I'm torn. After giving her debut album—The Fame—several spins I go back and forth between love and hate. Some of tracks great, like "Just Dance", "Poker Face" and my personal favorite "Summerboy", which sounds more like a Gwen Stefani summer anthem then the other electrocentric Gaga tracks. It doesn't fit in on the album at all, but it's great! Some of the dancier songs are really fun to wiggle around to, but the slow to mid-tempo ones should be avoided at all costs.

The problem that I do have is that Lady Gaga's image seems a little convoluted. Lots of talk of money, fame, riches, sex etc, but I don't know if I necessarily believe it all. Lady Gaga's persona is supposed to be this like futuristic dance diva from outerspace, but I feel like I can see the overly-confident New Yorker peeking out from under those blond bangs.

Track list for The Fame:
  1. "Just Dance"
  2. "LoveGame"
  3. "Paparazzi"
  4. "Beautiful Dirty Rich"
  5. "Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)"
  6. "Poker Face"
  7. "The Fame"
  8. "Money Honey"
  9. "Again Again"
  10. "Boys, Boys, Boys"
  11. "Brown Eyes"
  12. "Summerboy"
Thoughts?
