Paulina Porizkova Fired from 'America's Next Top Model'

Carolyn will be so happy! News broke today that former model and judge on America's Next Top Model has been fired from the show.

Here's the scoop from TopModelGossip.com:
Paulina Porizkova will be appearing on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight on CBS and she will reveal some really big news - that she was fired from America’s Next Top Model.

“Listen, do you know why I am in Los Angeles… because I am looking for a job,” Paulina tells Craig when she stops by. “Because I was fired by America’s Next Top Model on my birthday.”

Paulina says the reason she was fired was pretty vague. “The reason I was told I was fired was because, it seemed that America’s Next Top Model has gotten too fat and they needed to cut some fat and the fat was me,” she said.

She also mentions that the producers told her she has an ego problem, which contributed to her firing.

“So I figured it was either that or my gigantic huge ego. Which I wasn’t aware of until I was told by the producers that I have an ego problem,” she said.

Wonder who—if anyone
—producers will get to replace Paulina on the show... any suggestions? I hope it is someone who is actually a more current model who is working.

America's Next Top Model Is...

Hard to believe that Cycle 16 of America's Next Top Model is over already, but after some wild photo shoots, loads of drama and a trip to Morocco it was finally time to pick a winner. Both Molly and Brittani had strong performances in the final week, and through the season, but only one can be named America's Next Top Model.

VLOG: Pat & Carolyn Try the 'America's Next Top Model' Video Game

America's Next Top Model video gameAfter 14 Cycles on the air America's Next Top Model has made its way into the world of video games. The game -- which is out for Nintendo Wii and DS -- takes players inside the model house for challenges and personal interaction. Some info on the game:
"To succeed, the player must convince a very critical jury at various events such as catwalk shows, photo shoots, etc… There are also interactive story elements, which depend on the relationships with the other contestants, boyfriends, admirers and jurors. Will you play the sweet heart and be everyone’s best friend? Or will you claw your way to the top through cat fights and cunning? Choose the path to your destiny as America’s Next Top Model."
Being the super fans that we are, Carolyn and I snagged a copy of the America's Next Top Model video game for Wii and this is what we thought...

So, it may not be the most exciting game around for late 20s bloggers, but for younger ANTM fans it's definitely something to have in your gaming arsenal.

*Full Disclosure: The America's Next Top Model video game was provided to me free of charge, but I wouldn't write about it if I didn't want to!

'America's Next Top Model' Final Runway Shows: From Best to Dreck!

Now that the first All-Stars cycle of America's Next Top Model has wrapped, it's time to look back at the final runway shows of all 17 cycles so far.

With some influence from fans on the ABlogAboutThings.com Facebook page here is my official list of the final face-offs ranked from awesome to awful.

Cycle 1 - New York City

ANTM Cycle 1 runway

In the premiere Cycle of ANTM Shannon and Adrianne went head-to-head in a show for Baby Phat during New York's Fashion Week. This is probably my favorite show of the series. Not because it is the most exciting, but because it is the most realistic to date. These girls were with the big-time models during Fashion Week for a major designer. There was no elaborate production or staged-for-TV bits; it was just a real-life fashion show. Watch it here

Cycle 4 - Cape Town, South Africa

ANTM cycle 4 runway

Cycle 4's showdown between Naima and Kahlen was hot and sexy! The girls seemingly walked on water on a runway that was slightly submerged in a huge fountain. They modeled clothes and bathing suits and came through a waterfall during the final pass. The water may have been a bit of a gimmick, but the show was exciting and made it even more difficult to predict who would be named Top Model because they both looked so amazing! Watch it here

The Winner of 'America's Next Top Model All-Stars' Is...

After an season full of returning models, lots of drama, brand building and some silly Tyra Banks action we finally have the winner of the first season of America's Next Top Model All-Stars!

The finale came to three super strong and very unique girls -- Allison, Angelea and Lisa -- and they went head-to-head-to-head in a challenging runway (with water and flying!) to see who would take home the big prize. But as it turns out, one girl was disqualified after filming the results and the had to re-shoot the final panel and crown a new winner!

'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 18: US Versus UK?

The All-Star Cycle of America's Next Top Model is only a few episodes into the season, but details about the next cycle have been leaked to A Blog About Things! A reader sent us the details from a special "Fierce Parade and Fashion Show" that presumably unveiled the girls of ANTM Cycle 18 and a very unexpected twist: The next season will feature models from the United States versus models from the United Kingdom!

Tyra Banks to pit US models against UK models?

According to the insider, attendees of the event were encouraged to wear red, white and blue or stars and stripes to the show at the Hard Rock Cafe in Los Angeles. The stage in the venue formed a V with two runways jutting out from the stage to a center point. At the sides were two large floats; One with the Statue of Liberty and the other with Big Ben.

Jay Manuel was the emcee for the reveal. To keep with the US vs. UK theme Brit Nigel Barker rolled up in a Mini Cooper convertible that was painted as a Union Jack. Miss J. pulled up in a red and gold Ford Mustang.

Next came the float with Big Ben carrying seven British models, followed by the float with the Statue of Liberty, the American models and a bunch of shirtless guys with American flags and white flags that said "America's Next Top Model." How patriotic!

The invite stated that the models were all wearing clothes by designer Oliver Tolentino, which looked "high fashion military" according to the source. The UK girls were wearing red with gold, blue, silver accents and the US girls wore blue in different pseudo-patriotic colors.

'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 12 Finale Recap

Tonight was the big finale of Cycle 12 of America's Next Top Model and it left me stressed out! After 12 cycles of ANTM and watching every single episode over and over again you think I would be able to call a winner with no problem, but this finale had my brain spinning! Teyona, Allison and Aminat are all so different, which made it really hard to decide who was going to stand out.

After a CoverGirl photo shoot and commercial the final two girls walked, sambaed and crawled in a slinky Rosa Cha bikini fashion show. I don't want to give too much away in the blog, so watch the video to get the play-by-play...

Here's how it went down during elimination

First Panel Order:
  1. Allison
  2. Teyona
Eliminated before runway show:
  1. Aminat

And the winner of America's Next Top Model Cycle 12 was... TEYONA!

What did you think of tonight's finale? Did the right girl become America's Next Top Model? Leave a comment!

See This Week's Best Shots from 'America's Next Top Model'

america's next top model cycle 14

Only five models remain on this cycle of America's Next Top Model, and this week they'll have their photos taken by none other than Tyra Banks herself. While in New Zealand the girls visit the set of the Lord of the Rings movies and pose for an unique photo shoot.

Here's the interesting thing... I haven't been able to find too much information about the episode except that it's called "Hobbits vs. Models." I have the final pictures of the girls that will be used in this week's judging, but there are two photos of Jessica. Why? Check them out...

Last week fans got a quick taste of the upcoming season of ANTM. But now the time has time to meet the girls who are in the running to become America's Next Top Model when The CW's hit show returns for Cycle 16 on February 23 at 8pm.

Troy Jensen / Pottle Productions

Tyra Banks Spoofs Contestants in New 'ANTM' Promo

With the premiere of Cycle 16 of America's Next Top Model only a few days away even host and creator Tyra Banks is getting in on the excitement.

Check out this new promo of Ms. Banks spoofing some of Top Model's most recognizable stereotypes, like the girl who won't cut her hair and the "alternative" model who hates modeling.

America's Next Top Model Repeats Moving to Oxygen

Cool news for NBC Universal and Oxygen... Reruns of ANTM will move from MTV and start airing on the cable network in January 2009. Here's a clip from the full article from Broadcasting & Cable:

Oxygen acquired the exclusive cable rights to The CW reality-competition series in an agreement with CBS Television Distribution. The deal comprises all episodes including the 11th cycle currently airing on The CW, the show’s 12th cycle now in production and repeat airings of any future cycles beyond.

Created and hosted by model Tyra Banks, America’s Next Top Model premiered in 2003 on UPN.

The show and its track record with female viewers are a snug fit with Oxygen’s programming strategy and targeted young female demographic, the cable network’s executives said. Repeats of the syndicated The Tyra Banks Show air daily on the network, and former Top Model judge Janice Dickinson’s series, The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, is now in its fourth season on Oxygen.

Now I have to wonder, will the episodes air on a daily basis during the week, or will Oxygen string them all together in one afternoon? I'm torn on the decision! Although I wouldn't mind having a nightly dose of ANTM, I do enjoy getting sucked into the marathons whenever they randomly appear on my TV.

Man, I have a hard life.

'Top Model' Dominique Reighard Releases New Single and Music Video

Looks Lisa D'Amato wasn't the only All-Star to benefit from the music video challenge on America's Next Top Model!

Dominique Reighard, originally from ANTM Cycle 10, demonstrated her previously unnoticed vocal skills when she made a music video for her original song "Tooch Ya Booty" during a challenge on All-Stars last week. Well, someone realized that Dom actually has some chops, so she recorded a new song on her own called and made a music video for it, too.

And guess what? It's pretty damn good!

Check out the video for Dominique's "On Top of the World" where she "slinks her ink" as Ms. Jay would say and spoofs her time on ANTM without overdoing the cheese-factor.

America's Next Top Model Finale

I haven't written much about America's Next Top Model, but I am a dedicated (and embarrassed) watcher. Here's a really quick recap of last night's finale.

The final three girls were Renee (the bitch,) Jaslene (the cha-cha diva,) and Natasha (the mail-order bride.) They each did their own Covergirl commercial and photo shoot.
Unfortunately Renee was sent home because she looked "too old" at the elderly age of 20. That's the breaks, kid!

The final runway show was between Jaslene and Natasha. I have to say, it was weird. They had to act like primordial cave women who evolved into regular, amazing supermodels. Very controversial in the Bible Belt. They both look good, but Natasha's weirdness came through... and her skirt fell off at one point.
In the end, America's Next Top Model was Jaslene, who proved that even though she was eliminated before the show really started in Cycle 7, she made the necessary changes to come out on top. Now Tyra owns her soul.
If you can't wait until next cycle head over to The CW's website for more photos and videos.

Well, my friends over at BuddyTV.com have compiled their list of the Top 30 "Top Models" of the of all time, which might give a pretty good indication of who would take it all if past contestants wen head-to-head. Here's a little preview of their top 3 picks, in no particular order:
