So, I quit my internship last week.

The stress of travel and monotanous work and lack of pay was just too much. Now I can focus on my radio shift and my personal life.

This is my last summer of being a kid, I think I deserve to have fun and be happy.

I'm going to Columbus

So, I talked to my mom about the ProScout situation and how they asked me to go to Columbus to meet with the big agents and stuff.  I figured she would be supportive, but not really in agreement with it. Turns out she's really excited for me and wants to go with me to help me out.  I felt really good about that.  I sent in my registration papers and money this afternoon.  It's a big chunk of change, but how much would you pay to start your career how you want it?  The convention is in Columbus on August 28 and 29, which is RIGHT when school starts, but you gotta make sacrifices, right?  I'll let you know how everything goes when it comes around. Wish me luck!

"WE'RE REAL!"

Today while I was at my shift Beth Brooks called me up and asked if this kid could come up and take a look at our radio station, so I said sure. His name was Alex, a sophomore at W&J. They don't have a communications major there, which I thought was weird, but he was involved with their radio and newspaper. (Alex was a jittery and nervous kid, I hope he finds his place in broadcasting!) He was saying how much nicer our station is than W&J and how it's more realistic. Apparently their station doesn't really have a format, it's "Classic rock from the 80s" all day long, and then students can just sign up and have their own shows at night. He had a hard time understanding that we had an ACTUAL format and we didn't have any "shows." He kept asking about our shows and it took me a while to say WE DONT' GET TO PLAY WHATEVER WE WANT! WE'RE REAL! He listened to me do the news and weather and was interested. He's from Wilmington, and is thinking about transferring to WC for communications. More power to ya, Alex!

Titan Radio Pool Party

So the pool party was today and it was a great success! We ran into some yucky weather, It rained for about 10min and thunder made everyone have to stay out of the pool for a good 40min, but we had fun anyway! We gave away some really great prizes and I think we made a good impression on the community! Hopefully we'll have some new listeners! Ask me for pix if you wanna see them!
