How's the project going?

Senior project has been a subconcious, but on-going process this year. I haven't been thinking about it too much, what with the musical, dance team and dance theater, but I have slowly been adding up all of the parts of it. I have a lot completed, but compiling most of it into resume tapes is going to be the most work. Here's an update:

TV Producer
  • I have several useable County Line's to use for a producer's tape. This past week's prerecord was a very successful show and had good flow. The "horse" show also had a good flow.
  • I need to find time to review the old tapes and choose my favorite.

TV Reporter/Talent

  • I said I wanted at least 2 packages completed to put on a resume tape. As of now I have 3 solid packages completed and want to do at least one more before the semester ends.
  • I need to choose the best clips from my packages and include them on a resume tape.

Radio Promotions Creator

  • I have 2/3 radio promos finished, one for Digital 88.9 News and one for the Lambda Sigma clothing drive.
  • I need to complete one more promo, which will most likely be for The County Line.

Radio Disk Jockey

  • I said I was supposed to create an exciting, professional and enthusiastic resume tape of my DJ shifts.
  • The aircheck machine has been out of commission for about 3 weeks now, so I don't have much new material to use. It's up and running again (for now) so hopefully I'll get some good stuff in the next week or so.

Things are going well. Now that musical is almost over, I will have all of my evenings back and have a lot more time to dedicate to getting my resume tapes completed.

Too many donuts!!!

Last night I went to Dunkin' Donuts at 1:30am and bought a dozen. I ate about half of what I bought and my stomach hurts now! ...just thought I'd share!

This week in broadcasting has been much like those in the past. The show was really last minute this week, with Julie, Liz, Tandi, and me editing on Thursday afternoon! Luckily we got everything done and we actually had one of our best County Line's of the year! The show had good flow, good pace, good content and there were very few technical errors. Kirstan Gides did an excellent job with County Comments this, week as well. I was very happy. I had my usual radio shifts and stuff. My friend Megan told me that I do a really nice job on the radio. She said she always listens to me but never tells me that she likes listening, so that was a nice compliment! Thanks, Mega!

My career search has been pretty limited as of now. The musical and dance team is taking up all of my time, but that will be over next week so I can focus back on what I need to get done. Julie was applying to Channel One News this week, and that's a place that I had totally overlooked! I always used to watch Channel One during high school and I think it would be a pretty cool place to work. I'll have to look in to it. (Don't worry, Julie, I won't steal your job!)

I found and article on FOXNews.com (which isn't the most unbiased site around) called "Why Bush Won and Kerry Lost." It said that most of the country agrees with Bush's traditional beliefs and forgive him for the mistakes that he's made. It also says that the severely slanderous media campaigns against Bush, like Fahrenheit 9/11, made people sympathize with the President and feel negatively against Kerry, even though those attacks weren't exactly produced by him. I feel that those negative ads were the main reason many people voted for Bush. I know that when I watched Fahrenheit 9/11 I was disgusted with how Bush was portrayed. Yes, some of the events were HIGHLY suspicious in the film and did make concerned, but hindsight is 20/20, so I don't think anyone could have done a better job w/ the events of 9/11 than Bush did. That's my 2 cents!

The Blogs are getting attention!

Just another reason to be assured that these blogs are a good idea:

A few months ago my aunt emailed me to tell me that she had Googled (like how that's a verb now?) my name found my blog and thought it was really interesting. I thought it was really neat that it came up like that.

Just yesterday I got an email from a woman asking about my ProScout experience. She said she searched the web for people's experiences and found my blog, got my email and wanted to know how I felt about everything. I thought it was really cool that she just happened to find my blog and can get some info from me. I emailed her back, hopefully it helped!

The blogs are useful and people are reading them! Good times!

Ashlee Simpson wasn't lying!

In case you missed it or haven't heard about it, Ashlee Simpson got busted lip synching on last week's Saturday Night Live. She synched the first song, then when she went to sing the 2nd number they accidentally played her first song again and she was clearly not singing. Ashlee first blamed her band for playing the wrong song, then her rep said she had acid reflux and lost her voice, then they said she had laryngitis, and a slew of excuses came out.

It turns out that a crew from CBS's 60 Minutes were doing a story about SNL's creative process and were rolling tape during Ashlee's rehearsal. They have video of her barely getting through the rehearsal, then running off stage crying and holding her throat. They also show the actually live mess up, and Ashlee running offstage again. It also shows an SNL rep coming out of Ashlee's dressing room saying, "Oh my god!"

I think it's a pretty interesting story to follow. It's no secret that many artists out there today lipsynch or sing along to tracks at live performances, but this is the first real incident of someone getting busted since Milli Vanilli! Luckily for Ashlee the old saying holds true: Any publicity is good publicity.
