Good Thing I'm a Morning Person!

It's a good thing I'm a morning person because I got a new assignment which doesn't allow sleeping in! I'm the new green room Page for Weekend Today! I start tomorrow at 5am, so I'll be waking up at about 3:45! *barf* It's ok, cos the job is awesome. I will be making sure guests arrive to the studio on time, make sure they're to hair, makeup and wardrobe before their segment, and then I will escort them to the studio for their time on air. I'm also responsible for running small errands for the anchors like Campbell Brown and Lester Holt, and making sure their cars are ready to go at the end of the show. I'll be running small errands for everyone... being a gopher at times, but I'm ok with that. It's a great opportunity! The coolest thing about the assignment is that because I have to start so early, I get picked up in a private car each morning and driven to work. I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty sweet.

Besides Weekend Today, I still have my assignment as Orientation and Alumni Coordinator. I have a group of 5 new Pages starting on October 10th, so I have to get ready for that, too. It shouldn't be too hard since I have already done it once, but we'll see when the time comes!

I am SO excited for Saturday Night Live! I was orginally supposed to work the season premiere tomorrow night, but because of my new assignment I got moved. I will get to work next week though, which is going to be crazy! Production started for the season premiere on Monday, and yesterday I got to watch Kanye West rehearse his numbers, and today I saw Steve Carrell and many of the cast members rehearsing as well. Mom and Dad- don't read this next part!!! The thing that I'm most excited about is the after parties! There is an after party after every SNL which is reserved for the cast and crew, but then there is an after-AFTER party which is for all of the cast and crew, plus us hardworking Pages. Those parties don't start until 3am!!!! It's going to be crazy and I seriously can't wait! I promise I won't end up on Page Six, everyone!

The apartment search may be coming to an end! "...and the peasants rejoiced!" I put in an application for a place with one of my coworkers. We'll have an interview next week to see if we're good enough for the place. It's a HUGE apartment for not a lot of money. I'll keep you posted. I'm also looking at other places in the meantime.

Celeb sightings of the week: Martha Stewart, Amanda Bynes, Death Cab for Cutie, The Big Show, Jud Hale, Matt LeBlanc, Kanye West, Steve Carrell, Amy Poehler, Seth Myers, Daryl Hammond, and Rachel Dratch. A lot this week!

It's been a while, but a lot has happened!

Work is going great! I can now safely say that I am out of my 2 month funk! I have been totally busy at work and loving every second of it! Orientation is going great. Elana and Rob are my protege pages and they're pretty sweet, I'm not gonna lie. I'm definitely excited about the fact that I'm getting to show everyone my skills outside of giving tours. I think everyone is noticing my level of responsibility, organization and creativity. Hopefully this little assignment will set me up for bigger ones in the future.

I had a great opportunity to shadow Joe Michael, the direct of Today on Wednesday. It was totally awesome! I got in at 6am and met with Joe and the rest of the control room crew. They were all awesome and a hoot! Joe gave me some great advice and It was really fun to follow him around and see what he does during the show. He was impressed by how much I knew about running a live show, which is definitely a good thing! I'm setting up a future interview with him so I can get some more information about him and his job. As a bonus, I got to get very close to Al Roker, Ann Curry and Katie Couric. I didn't get to meet any of them, but I was within 4 feet of each. (Sorry Dad, I'll tell Katie to wear pantyhose next time!)

Shadowing Today will hopefully open some new doors. I applied to be the Green Room Page in the next month. I would LOVE the position and many of the other Pages said I'd be perfect for the job! We'll see how it goes. If I get the job I would be responsible for running celebrities from the green room to the set, getting newspapers and scripts for the talent, and keeping everyone happy and energized in the morning. Good thing I'm a morning person, cos I'd have to be there at 5am! Ok, I think it's bad luck for me to post about applying for assignments because later that day I find out I didn't get them. I'll only post AFTER I get them from now on.

I don't have an apartment yet. That's all I have to say about that.

Celeb sitings of the week: Katie Couric, Ann Curry, Al Roker, Matt Lauer, Brian Williams, Chris Matthews, Carter Osterhouse (Trading Spaces), Melissa (the first person fired on The Apprentice) and Stephen King! It was a good week!

I got an Assignment!

So the time has come and I got myself my very first assignment! It's not one of the major ones w/ any of the shows, but it's still pretty cool. I'm the new Orientation and Alumni Page. So I am in charge of training all the new pages, which is a pretty cool responsibility to have for being so new to the program myself! I also am in charge of staying in contact with the Page Alumni to keep them in the know of what's going on. Pretty fun! I have 2 new pages starting on Monday so they're wasting no time putting me to work!

I also applied for Today Show Green Room so we'll see if I get any more info on that. I'll keep you posted. See you later!

Cue the sad music

I didn't get the Digital Media assigment. I'm kinda bummed, but it's ok because it went to someone who will do a great job! I had a really great interview though, so I was feeling pretty good about it. Oh well, all the Today show assigments are coming up!

It's Assignment Season in Pageland!

The assignments opportunities are coming in like crazy in Pagetown, USA! Unfortunately I did not get the SNL assigment that I wanted, but there is a chance that I may get the position of seating director or key, which is kinda cool, too! Regardless of whether I get an assignment, I will definitely be working the show almost every week, so I won't have to miss any of the excitement. Some other good news, I have an interview tomorrow with Digital Media for an assignment there. Digital Media is responsible for the up-and-coming broadband entertainment that NBC will be launching later in the fall. I can't say a whole lot about it, but it's a really fast-growing department. We'll see how it goes! If that doesn't work out I'm going for Today production or green room. When it rains it pours!

The apartment search SUCKS!!!!!! Brokers in NYC are liars and I actually had to yell at one and walk out of his office on Sunday. It was very empowering. Then, apparently the fates felt bad for me and placed a bar with FREE BEER in my path on the way home. *looks up at the sky* thanks, big guy! That definitely made the day better.

I got to speak with Liz Farry a few times this week! The Westminnies had their first County Line of the season and of course I had to see how it went! I'm really proud that you guys got rolling so early this year! Keep up the great work! I wish I could see the show! Send me a tape!

I didn't get any money in the mail this week. You guys are cheap. Haha! Just kidding! I appreciate non-monitary cards just as much as the money-filled kind! Thanks to Mr. Weaver for my SpongeBob postcard! And to Amanda Stano for the awesome card! They're all up on my wall!

Celeb sighting of the week: I actually just saw Clinton Kelly from TLC's What Not To Wear on my walk home today! He was just walking down the street. I pointed. Haha. That's all for now!
