Clip Du Jour: Tech TV

I think I've watched this clip at least 800 times since I discovered it in college, but it's one of my favorite. Check it out.

What you should take away from this clip: When doing a segment about a one-of-a-kind, fragile piece of technology don't have Shakyhands Magee do the demonstration.

The Lucky Bean Tree

Earlier this year my parents sent me a lucky bean tree in celebration of the new job that I got in July. The tree is supposed to bring you good luck and grow with your success. Much to my surprise, the tree went from being a little scrappy thing to a big, tall tree with lots of new branches and sprouts.

Unfortunately over the last month the tree has really dropped a lot of leaves. We had to pull out one of the growths because it died. It's just not looking that great. Perhaps this tree shouldn't be called a "lucky" bean tree, but more of a "present day representing" bean tree. Today was my last day of work at my job and it obvious that the tree knew it was coming all along. Thanks for the warning!

Clip Du Jour: Beer Launcher

In a new blog experience (well, not that new cos I've been doing it, but now it's official) I'm going to start posting the best clip of the day (or every few days) that I happen to find out there on the good ol' interweb.

Today's clip comes from a guy named John W. Cornwell who has invented a minifridge that automatically launches beers to your lazy ass as you sit on the couch and watch the game. The mechanics are meticulous and it seems to work exactly as planned. Check out the fridge in action:

Robotic Beer Launching Refrigerator

You can check out more specifics on Mr. Cornwell's website. He estimates that it costs about $2,500 to put one together, so you have to be lazy and loaded to pick up one of these gadgets. If you have $2,500 to blow couldn't you just pay someone to walk the beer over to you? Or at least train some sort of dog or chimp? I think instead of beer I'd want mine to shoot cupcakes or delicious McDonalds hamburgers.

What would you want? Discuss.

The Best Thing About The Oscars

The 79th Annual Academy Awards took place on Sunday night, and I'm pretty sure they're still going on. The show itself was fairly boring and way too long, but I did find one particular part very interesting. I'm not sure exactlty how the dancers tied into the show, but it worked! These talented performers contorted their bodies to represent the logos of some of the most talked-about movies this year. Check them out via youtube.

FutureSex/LoveShow

In a majorly delayed post, I finally scored some pictures from Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveShow concert at Madison Square Garden on February 7th. My friend Shira, Alissa and I decided to check out the tickets the day of the show and we ended up finding some really good seats.

Pink was the opening act (isn't she big enough to have our own tour?!) and both she and Justin were great. Both performers were really fun and really talented. I haven't been to a live show in quite some time where everyone sounded so good.

The show was in the round and was really entertaining. Timbaland made a guest appearance during several of Justin's songs, as well as Saturday Night Live player Andy Samberg, who came out with Justin to perform their SNL sketch "Dick in a Box" live. Great show... I'll spare you too many details, so just look at the pix and video courtesy of Shira.
