Photo Blog: The Bronx Zoo

Last weekend my friend Kelly and I spent an afternoon at The Bronx Zoo. I can't say enough about it. It was a cool afternoon... only about 75 degrees and overcast. Didn't make for the best photography around, but all the animals were out enjoying the non-scorching temps. Wonderfully fun day, and I was surprised at how uncrowded it was for being a New York City location.

If you live in NYC and you haven't been to the Bronx Zoo yet, you have to go. Easy subway ride there and $25 gets you access to everything available. If you do go, you must take a ride on the Skyfari buckets. Floating over a wilderness and realizing you're in the middle of the biggest city in the world is pretty amazing. Here are some of my fave photos:

Black20 Kids Forum

I'm a sucker for webclips featuring little kids saying or doing funny things. I give you Exhibit A and Exhibit B. This clip from Black20.com's The Middle Show could be one of my faves. If you're like me, you may want to watch it a few times to make sure you get Arnold Schwarzenegger's phone number correct. Enjoy!

Hey Paula!

In what could be my favorite new reality show to date (until Victoria Beckham's show debuts... yes, I said it) Bravo has recently announced a new show feature everyone's favorite, incoherent American Idol judge, Paula Abdul.

The new series titled Hey Paula will begin airing on Bravo on Thursday, June 28th at 10pm. The premiere will actually be two back-to-back episodes to kick of the series. The official press release promises the following:
"Behind the songs, behind the dance, the spotlight, and far away from Simon Cowell, there’s the real woman behind the headlines – pop icon Paula Abdul.... “Hey Paula” provides an unfiltered, real-life look at the “American Idol” judge, entrepreneur, choreographer and multi-platinum artist, giving insight and context to Abdul’s much-reported on professional and personal life."
They should have also added "a lot of crazy" to the list of things we can expect this summer. Poor Paula's been all over the news lately for allegedly tripping over her chihuahua, Tulip, and having a mental breakdown over the phone with some of her people. Hopefully this show will be a success for her because, as she says in her own words, "Last time I had a hit... Bill and Hillary were having sex..." Gross.

The only sad news I have to report is the series is only 7 episodes long! That's not nearly enough Paula for me. Watching her new show will be just like back in the day when I used to force my neighbor to listen to my Forever Your Girl cassette tape on her deck... I wish I was joking about that one.

If this quick trailer that's been airing on Bravo isn't enough to entice you watch, I don't know what else I can do to convince you. Check it out.

MTV Movie Awards 2007

Quick post about the MTV Movie Awards last night... or should I say, the MTV You Really Should See Transformers This Summer Infomercial.

I think it was really cool that the show was live for the first time ever. Everyone knows when the VMAs roll around that you have to watch the live show to see all good (or bad) stuff. Unfortunately the show didn't really have all the excited of the VMAs... but it never really does, does it? I think Sarah Silverman did a great job as host. She managed to interject her crude sense of humor without going overboard or being too offensive.

The show was seriously an entire 2-hour special dedicated to the new Transformers movie (which I'm totally geeking out about, btw) with a red carpet dedicated to the film, special sneak peaks throughout the event and, in a shocking result, Transformers was named Best Summer Film You Haven't Seen Yet. What an upset!!! I didn't see that one coming at all.

The best part of the show (at least for me) was the live performances. Two of my faves took the stage; Rihanna and Amy Winehouse. Both of the ladies sounded great and had fun performances. Rihanna was lookin' hot performing "Umbrella" and Amy sounded great singing "Rehab," but looked like she was going to blow away if someone left a door open. Both of their performances are floating around on the internet, so check 'em out.
