Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, everyone! Hope you find more treats than tricks today. And if you're not going to eat all your candy, send it my way. I like candy...

I already carved my pumpkin last weekend, and I think the fact that Halloween is on a Wednesday is really bringing the holiday down. No one is really sure when to celebrate. It seems like the number of Halloween parties has gone down this year. Maybe I'm just officially old and I don't care that much anymore... never! I love Halloween, but maybe I'll just take it easy this year.

You know what else I love? Babies dressed as things. I'm a sucker for babies and an even bigger sucker for babies dressed up in costumes. Apparently babies dressed as food items is all the rage this season. Please click the link below to view some of my favorite babies dressed up for Halloween.

Click for the babies!!

Here is my friend, Danielle, and her daughter, Lily, dressed up like a bunny with a baby carrot. Get it?! I'm not going to be humble... this costume was totally my idea and Danielle took my advice. I'm also not going to lie... I saw this costume on Ellen earlier in the week, but still; it's a good costume!

Next up is another favorite: baby Maura! She is so cute I could eat her! Look at that face!

And just for shiggles, please view Maura's parents, Erin and Kevin, dressed as Dog the Bounty Hunter and his unfortunate wife. Points for originality, but Maura does not look amused.

iVillage.com also has a slide show feature some of the most squeal-worthy baby costumes I have seen in a long time. Check 'em out and have a better day!

Fortune Cookies Are Insulting, Non-fortune-telling

A few weeks ago I posted a blog entry about a New York Times article regarding fortune cookies, and how one company is starting to post some not-so-optimistic fortunes. Apparently after years of printing happy fortunes they have fun out of things to put in them. I went on a rant about how I once got a fortune that said "Eat more Chinese food." Not a fortune! That is a command! Ok, I'm getting heated again...

I ordered Chinese food on Sunday night (thank you, Chinatown East. You are delicious!) but I was again disgruntled with my fortune! I cracked that cookie open and this is what was staring back at me:

Q: What is the fastest way to scrambled a child's mind?
A: Make them watch television.
Ok...

#1- What the eff kinda fortune is that?! That tells me nothing about my future success or luck! What's next? A knock-knock joke? I feel like I'm reading one of those Popsicles with the joke under the ice... those were really good though, right?

#2- Hey, fortune cookie- don't you EVER talk about television like that again!

Have you ever gotten a cookie like this? Does it get you as jacked as it does to me? Maybe I should up my dosage...

Fall is Officially Here!

Can I just say that I am relieved that the Fall weather has finally set in. I mean, it only took until the last weekend in October to finally cool down, but I'll take whatever I can get. It's supposed to be in the 50s all this week. Very happy... anyway- I had a really fun and random weekend so I just feel like sharing...

Friday was a normal day at work, but afterwards a bunch of us went celebrating a special event. One of my bestest buds, Kelly, got a new job this week so we all had to celebrate! Congratulations, Kells! She'll still be in the building, so I'll still have my lunch bud. *phew*

More from this weekend! click!

Saturday was really rainy and gross for the majority of the day. I spent it in bed watching TV and napping. I think I took no less than 3 separate naps. Very fun. Got a last-minute invite to a Halloween party so I had to throw together a quick costume. I decided the easiest thing to do would be to go as a devil... wear my own clothes and buy some horns and a tail and I'm set. I tried to pop into the closest Ricky's but apparently everyone on the island of Manhattan had the same idea. For those of you not from NYC, Ricky's is basically like Spencer's like in the mall. The line to check out wrapped all the way around the store. I waited about 35min to buy a stinking pair of devil horns. Fun party though...

There was a group costume contest and I have to share one of the groups with you. They went as "Madonna-rama." It was 2 guys and a girl (can you tell who's who?) who went as a time line as Madonna. They were really funny and I couldn't believe they only got 3rd place!

Sunday was a lovely day. Sunny and cool (again, about time!) I was walking in Central Park in the conservatory garden, which is by my apartment. We were walking through this beautiful trellis that overlooks a big fountain and span of grass and took a minute to admire the view (here's a pic from this summer)

While we stopped walking this well-dressed man with his girlfriend asked us to take their photo. No harm, no foul. We took their photo and then he said, "can you take another one?" So we did... showed him the picture and he said, "Um... can you take one more?" So we took one more, showed him and again he said, "can you please take ONE more?" I was starting to get annoyed. I feel like 2 pictures is the max to ask a stranger, but we decided we'd be nice and take one more. As we took the final picture the man got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend. She was shocked and it was probably the cutest thing I have witnessed in person! We took a ton of pictures while they canoodled, wished them luck and went on our way. What a wonderful surprise!

I was in a good mood after the proposal, so I decided to carve pumpkins for Halloween! Here's my guy:

Now... back to the grind! How as your weekend?

Black20 News with Jessie Cantrell

It's Friday and that means it's time for some Black20 News with Jessie Cantrell! There's good stuff this week, lemme tell ya...

Jessie talks about a little boy who stole his grandma's car to go get some Applebee's chicken tenders. He is my hero. She also goes into the predominately male-exclusive world of urinals, and features an online game that dares you to see how many times you can push the spacebar in an allotted amount of time. Riveting.

Have a great weekend!

A Vlog About Things: Top Model is Getting Boring

First off- Lemme just say that I am very a happy that it is finally below 60 degrees in New York. It's about time, it's practically November! Anyway...

Last night was another episode of the America's Next Top Model and Carolyn and I were there for every boring second of it. I'm not sure what it is this cycle... maybe the girls are just better, so they're not as fun to watch. Maybe the producers are having a hard time thinking up new and exciting ideas for the show. Maybe last season was just so good (it was pretty good) that this one can't compare. Regardless, we still put in our two cents and were VERY happy that jerk _____ was eliminated.
