Did You Jail Break Your iPhone? These Are the Best Apps
Every Friday between Memorial Day and Labor Day I'm going to be featuring guest bloggers as a part of my "Summer Fridays" series. This week's post comes from Pierce V. who gives a simple tutorial on how-to jailbreak your iPhone and the best to download.
Last year I compared smart phones keyboards and their general usability for big tasks. I thought I’d continue with the tech theme and show you jailbreaking and the iPhone.

As many of you with iPhones know, the new iOS 4 brings a wealth of new features: backgrounds (purty!), "multi"-tasking (finally!-ish), folders (Hallelujah!), mail app update (*cough* Google *cough*), etc. But even with the wealth of new features, Apple is ultra-restrictive with personalization. Here's where the magic of jailbreaking comes in.
What exactly is jailbreaking? Well, without going into the technical details (which I know none of), jailbreaking allows you add apps, functionality and customize the look and feel of your iPhone with themes that Apple would otherwise restrict.

Tie Your Brain in Knots with Entanglement
I'm currently loving this tricky and tactical online game called Entanglement.

Using your keyboard arrows or mouse scroll wheel, you rotate the hexagonal tiles to keep your colored line going as long as possible. It sounds simple, but it can be quite challenging once the amount of empty squares starts to diminish.
You can play by yourself or challenge up to six friends to play along.

You can click here to play Entanglement or head over to Gopher Studios to try out some of other fun online games. Enjoy!
[Thanks, Pierce]

'Going the Distance' Rides the Line Between Cutesy and Cool
Real-life pair (allegedly?) Drew Barrymore and Justin Long co-star in the new romantic comedy Going the Distance about a bi-coastal couple struggling to make their long-distance relationship work. The concept may not be new, but the movie has a fresh take on an old story.Barrymore is her normal lovable and quirky self, playing a 31-year-old graduate student and wannabe journalist interning in NYC for the Summer. Long plays a puppy-dog-cute record label dude who gets dumped by his girlfriend and meets Drew in the same night.
I'll spare you the play-by-play of the film, but it breaks down like this: If you are a girl you will like Going the Distance because 1) all girls like Drew Barrymore and 2) Justin Long is the hopelessly romantic, but not overly mushy guy that every girl wants to date. Boys might like the film too because 1) all boys like Drew Barrymore and 2) supporting actors Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day are every dude's fantasy bros.
The movie was really cute, the soundtrack was fun and Drew and Justin are a pretty great couple on screen. Yes, some of the scenarios are a little goofy (like Long's unnecessary spray tan scene), but overall Going the Distance rides that fine line between cutesy and cool.

Going the Distance is in theaters this Friday.
