The final two (yes, two!) Twilight films won't be released in theaters until the end of 2011 and 2012, leaving Twihards with a severe deficit of tween melodrama and fantasy. Good news for fans though, as Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke may be able to curb their cravings with Red Riding Hood (in theaters now.) "It" girl of the moment Amanda Seyfried stars as Valerie (aka, Red) in this update of the classic tale.
For decades, the people of the village of Daggerhorn have maintained an uneasy truce with a werewolf, who prowls at every full moon. But under a blood red moon the wolf changes the stakes by taking the life of one of their own. The victim is the older sister of Valerie, who has just found out that her parents (Billy Burke and Virginia Madsen) have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons.) But Valerie wants only Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), the poor woodcutter she has loved all her life.
As the townspeople hunger for revenge, famed werewolf hunter Father Solomon (Gary Oldman) is summoned to kill the beast once and for all. But Solomon's arrival brings only more turmoil as he warns everyone that the werewolf takes human form by day and could be any one of them. Panic grips the town as the death toll rises with each red moon, tearing apart the once close-knit village. But who is the wolf?

Look, kids! A book you might actually want to look at!

I'm only half serious when I say that books aren't interesting, but how cool are these pieces of artwork by Brian Dettmer?
Using tweezers and surgical tools the artist carves out these amazing scenes one page at a time. Dettmer manipulates the pages and spines to form the shape of his sculptures. He also folds, bends, rolls, and stacks multiple books to create completely original sculptural forms. The coolest part is that he doesn't add anything to the books; everything you see was original to the book itself.

Singer Aubrey O'Day has had quite a roller coaster career in the few short years she's been in the spotlight. She spent several seasons on MTV's Making the Band, had a huge role in the very successful girl group Danity Kane, then got booted from the group and onto gossip blogs everywhere. Now O'Day is hoping to regain her stardom with a solo career and a new reality premiering tonight at 10pm on Oxygen.
In All About Aubrey we get to see the singer working her way back to the top as a solo artist. She's trying to repair her reputation in the public eye -- the phrase "do you want to be an artist or a celebrity?" is heard several times -- while enduring the constant criticism from her camp on issue of her weight gain (her choreographer, Gil, is particularly tough/honest.)
Surrounded by her cast of friends and confidants Aubrey struggles to find the balance between being herself and being what a celebrity is supposed to be: a flawless performing and personality machine. In the show's premiere episode we see O'Day panic when her choreographer asks her to remove her excessive amount of makeup (seriously, the sink was a rainbow afterwards) to look at her true self in the mirror. She says that she's no longer the 10olbs girl we got to know during Making the Band, but will fans be interested in the "new" O'Day?
