By watching the network for an entire day I learned something new: MTV really wants you to like the band Paramore. They have been running Paramore-themed promos and bumpers for the last week and I will admit that I was tempted to go check them out. I had heard of the band before because my pal Jiscilla was connected, but didn't know too much in depth. I checked out their Myspace page and liked what I heard. Downloaded a few jams... very cool stuff. This post isn't about the band though. They rock, but MTV's onslaught is making kinda not want to listen to them anymore.
Apparently Paramore is MTV's Artist of the Week, which I didn't even know existed until now. They have been featuring the band and their music in promos and in skits for their new shows. Their single "Misery Business" has been blasted on every commercial break for the entire week and weekend. Enough! I love the song and I think the band is rad, but it's overkill. It makes me want to flip the channel.
I guess this blog was more of a rant than informative, but it's a gloomy Monday. Sue me. Maybe I'm only overkilled on Paramore because I watched the same channel for 14 hours yesterday, but I think the MTV promo crew might have made them just a tad over-exposed. Regardless, they're a sweet band so go check out their music, but maybe avoid MTV for a week.
Do you feel the same way?
