FreeRice.com

There are always certain websites that get passed around between online friends that seem to quickly make their way into common knowledge. Most of them are addicting games (like this one; I'm obsessed) but every once in a while one of them is actually used for good instead of evil.

FreeRice.com is a website associated with the United Nations World Food Program, and utilizes the users vocabulary knowledge (and web addiction) to donate food to starving nations. All you have to do is correctly choose the definition of each word, and for everyone one you get correct the organization will donate 20 grains of rice. While 20 grains doesn't seem like much, it's amazing at how quickly you can rack up grains in just a few minutes.

Check out the website and test your vocabulary knowledge! For instance, do you know what gloaming means?

You'll have to go to the website to find out!
