Besides loathing the cover art, I actually think the album is really, really good. I'm not joking, guys. The tracks are hot. Granted, I don't really think it sounds too much like old Britney (both in the style of music and her over-produced vocals) but the tracks are hot. I would say that if you can listen to the album with an unbiased ear you will find yourself nodding to the beats at some point. Forget the crotch shots and baby drops; just listen to the tunes and I think you will enjoy.
The person that really deserves the credit for this CD is the producer(s.) The production value on this album is excellent, at least in my humble opinion. Lots of layers, unusual sounds and slick hooks. The songs are catchy and fun, what you would expect from a Britney album, but you just have to pretend that it's not a train wreck singing to you. It's almost as if Britney came into the studio knowing nothing about the songs, just sang the way the producers instructed and let them work their magic. It definitely worked.
The bad part about the situation is that Britney has a great album but has so much garbage going on in her personal life that there's no way she's going to be up to promoting it. One would expect to see Brit appearing on The Tonight Show or Saturday Night Live or doing some sort of promotion, but I doubt that's going to happen. Either Britney is so confident in her new music and fan base that she doesn't feel the need to promote the album, or she just really has no clue as to what's going on in reality. Unfortunately, I think it's the latter.
So... what's your opinion? Do you even care about Britney anymore?
